For our spring vacation this year we went to the Outer Banks. And we actually had an oceanfront room with a balcony at The Golden Strand! The room was very nice, but the view was incredible. I spent a lot of time on the deck looking and listening to the ocean. This was our second time at this condo and the last time we did not do as well. I decided to give them another chance and I am glad that I did. The lady at the desk checked us in an hour early and also mentioned that she had switched our room to a better room!
One morning the dolphins put on a show for us. Then we went to breakfast and when we returned they did it again! This was a highlight of the vacation for sure.
We did the normal looking around and shopping. The Outer Banks does not change much. Shopping bored us pretty quick. The time spent out on the beach was more enjoyable.
We did discover a couple of restaurants that we enjoyed that we had not been to before. The best was The Tale of the Whale. Margo had the flounder and I had Mahi-mahi Oscar. 20% discount for early dine plus half price bottles of wine completed the meal!
The second best was The Outer Banks Brewing Station. We arrived too early for dinner but the lunch menu had plenty of selections. And the beer was awesome! Jameson was sponsoring a contest for bartenders making drinks. The winner got a trip to Ireland. We got samples, t shirts and can koozies. There was a lot going on! We will be going back.
It was a little cool a couple of days but there were enough great days to make it all worthwhile!
