It has been many years since we have been to Williamsburg. So I talked Margo into going.
We stayed at the Historic Powhatan Resort. It was probably one of the worst timeshare experiences ever. But we made the best of it.
I planned our stay during the Busch Garden season so we could go to the park. And while the park was open, there were no shows. I was surprised at how many things were closed. I knew that I would have a meal at the Festhaus. Always a favorite! We knew right away upon entering that something was wrong. It was way too quiet. No music? No dancing? Not even prerecorded music. The food was less than expected.
We decided to ride up to the pottery. OMG! It was incredible looking. Like a city. The buildings separated by landscaping and walkways. Way too far to walk from on end to the other. We could not wait to get inside. But while nice on the outside, it was almost empty inside. Each building was at about 30% capacity. Empty shelves and empty space everywhere. Quite a disappointment.
There was really only one restaurant that was awesome. Second St Bistro. I had meatloaf and Margo had lasagna. Both were fantastic. The atmosphere was nice and they even had a small water feature in the front.
I think that I filled my curiosity quota for Williamsburg. Pretty sure we will not be going back. But it was still a vacation and we made the best of it.
